This popular coastal campsite welcomes all units and is an excellent area for all types of water sports. Launching is easy at most states of the tide and the boat park is next to the slipway and the beach.
Fine dinghy sailing can be enjoyed in the sheltered waters of Newport Bay and also on the estuary at high tide, Both river and sea canoeing can be indulged as can windsurfing either on the estuary at high tide or across the estuary off Newport Sands for the more experienced.

The site is a small family owned commercial one, popular with coastal path walkers, with toilets and shower facilities and café, unfortunately no hook-ups. There will be a social tent and dogs are allowed. Newport is just 10 mins walk away, with a bank, post office, shops and pubs.

SAILING INFORMATION
For those who are sailing heavier dinghies its important to note that for a heavier displacement dinghy (12ft and above) then the slipway is quite steep and sandy. It previously took 4 adults to launch and recover a “Cormorant” type sailing dinghy). Access on spring tides is limited to around two hours before and after high water. It should also be noted that a spring tide goes out quite rapidly and with “wind over tide” the sea state can become very choppy for a displacement boat.
Its a beautiful place to sail but pick your times and days and go accordingly. It is strongly recommended that you look at the area at low tide before venturing out then you can see where all the hazards are.

If you have any questions then please speak to the stewards.
